I believe it was creative Review I was flicking through at work today when I came across an advert for iStock, all you have to do is play their little game (sign up first if you already haven’t) and you have the chance, with a little bit of visual skill to grab yourself upto 5 iStock credits 🙂

Blooming tricky little game, I managed to get all but one, have a go it has to be better than moving shapes around in InDesign! 😀 I got myself a nice free 4 credits 🙂

Shiny 🙂
Its a tad less quick than my old Peugeot 206 Gti, but I suppose the drop of 600cc  in engine capacity has something to do with it, more stirring of the gearbox is needed. But it looks a pretty well screwed together car with things in the right places and it was the right price. Also its cheaper road tax and cheaper to insure than the Pug… woo 🙂

My current league table is as follows:

  1. Shutterstock – for sheer volume of sales
  2. iStockphoto – my current favourite, though longest running, earner
  3. Dreamstime – surely this place is going to be nipping at the heals of istock soon
  4. Fotolia – is getting better and more reliable earner, quite possibly the best for referral earnings too
  5. StockXpert – steady earner, great upload features
  6. BigStockPhoto – Slow trickle
  7. 123RF – an equally slow trickle but showing more promise due to the length of time I’ve been submitting
  8. CanStockPhoto – drip…….. drip……………… drip………………. Obviously not a place where my images sell! Nice place, shame about the lack of sales

🙂

Its been a while since i posted anything to do with stock images, and I’m in a major need to update my online stock image report from my spreadsheet. This I shall get around to soon-ish, erm honest! 😉
For now though I am going to dip my stock toe in the water of 4 other Royalty Free sites and see if the water is Hot, Warm, Cold, or bloody freezing!

For this experiment I shall be using the following to sell my imagery wares to the design community:

stock photos, royalty free stock photography, photo search
Kinda cool quirky site… ever-so polite approval system.

Fairly easy submission process, lets see how it goes.

Lacks a referral scheme but its a pretty usable site.

View my royalty free stock photography gallery on ImageVortex.com
Lacks a sensible (so far as i’ve read) referral scheme, they don’t want to accept my images yet as its not to their ‘style’, quite possibly the ‘Bakers Dozen’… Number 13 bread roll I dropped on the floor and the dog licked it.

These 4 sites are obviously going to take a back seat to my others so don’t expect any instant results! 🙂

I’ve been playing with my Theremin a bit lately and after having conversation on the subject with the guys at work an idea has emerged for a sound / music project that the general public would participate in with or without their knowing.
This idea consists of using a Theremin on a large scale, the Pitch Antenna would be a Bus Stop though the Volume would fixed.
As people started walking past the bus stop and que’d for the bus the pitch would change, the bus might pull up and really effect the magnetic field of the Theremin Bus Stop! All these changes would be played in real time to the area with the Theremin, so its a mixture of Musical experiment to create random sound scape’s and Art installation.

I’m writing this down just so I get it out there, I think its an interesting idea for free form sound generation which would be interactive with anyone near by. If anyone actually does this I’d be very interested.
Public sculptures would be another good source for an Antenna making more than a Physical presence for the artwork and giving each member of the viewing audience a roll in creating and interacting with its new Aural field.

I have no idea of the logistics or actual physics and electronics of this project, whether a certain size of antenna would need a certain amount of power to drive it?? Would my little Theremin Kit be capable of driving an old red British phone box?! 🙂

Who knows! Do you? I’d like to hear….
